Fancy Footwork

Around the hospital, I'm known as "The Doctor with the Shoes" because I often wear Converse Chucks. In fact, I even thanked a patient for a pair in my blog. But I was humbled today by these socks, which I encountered in the morning. They may be the coolest socks I've ever seen.

Nice! I have been known around my hospital for funky socks...I've heard tales of nurses and docs coming into my surgery room to check them out...funny stuff.

Those are better than any of mine though!

I think all us Sock Freaks have just come out of the closet... er... drawer. Add me to the club. I would trade a half dozen of my faves for that one pair of socks!

Wow, that's like having two friends with you all the time. I suppose you could even use them as hand puppets to entertain yourself..er others from time to time.

Hi Dr. David--You should know that reading your blog makes me hopeful and reminds me that there really are physicians who love their work! It really comes out in what you write. It is wonderfully encouraging for a pre-med who often hears a lot of discouraging comments about how doctors all hate their jobs.

Hi Carmelle,
Of course, physician bloggers are a biased sample, but I think most of us love our jobs. Sure there are frustrations (maybe I'll write about some of them one day... especially fights with insurance companies), but I can't imagine doing anything else. So if being a doctor is what you want to do, don't let anyone talk you out of it. There's no better job!

They also have earrings and chains, but they didn't come out in the picture, because all I had was my cell phone camera with me that morning.
